Keeping Yourself Safe at a Construction Site

Construction sites are always busy, and it’s easy to get so caught up in the chaos that you forget about safety. To ensure that you and your employees stay safe at the job site, always follow these guidelines.

Perform Regular Equipment Inspections

You use lots of machines and vehicles to complete your tasks more efficiently, and while they’re helpful, they are also disastrous if they break down. Before work begins every day, inspect each machine for missing bolts, leaking fluids, and broken levers or switches. Have a professional regularly examine your heavy-duty equipment such as chain hoists Chattanooga. These inspections may seem like wastes of time, but they prevent accidents and allow you to catch minor issues before they are out of control.

Follow COVID-19 Safety Protocols

Safety is more complicated than ever thanks to the novel coronavirus pandemic. You must do everything in your power to ensure that you and your employees do not get sick at work. Find out if any of your employees or their families are at high risk of contracting the virus and offer them opportunities to work away from everyone else. All workers must wear masks unless they are working on their own more than six feet away from everyone else. If possible, though, they should still masks even when on their own. Provide hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes for everyone and set timers on your phone to remind all workers to sanitize their stations. Finally, do not allow anyone to come to work if he or she displays symptoms of the virus.

Keeping your workers safe at your construction site requires attention to your machinery as well as pandemic-related safety issues. These concerns can quickly become so overwhelming that you lose focus, so don’t forget to take deep breaths through your mask.
